#FOL Pt28 Nike DC

The #FruitsOfLabor Story Pt 28 – Nike DC

Following the ATL wedding, I was gearing up for the next big step in my career. Crazy that we’re actually at the point in the Fruits of Labor story where things are becoming current. After years of working tours and activations for Nike, and brand coordinating for a Big Box retailer, I was finally called to do my thing in a larger market. Like most jobs, it took a couple months to hear back and push things through, but it was worth the wait. Ultimately, it was very gratifying for me to work a plan and see my ground work was paying off.

I was brought on boarded in September 13′ and I headed straight to NYC for training. The new role was offering new challenges and I was interested in learning more. I went in like a sponge and soaked up as much information as I could. I wanted to hit the ground running when I got back to DC. When I first started there were a ton of new standards and concepts for me to learn. My primary role is to execute brand specific initiatives that drive and improve business results. My unique value is a specialty in Sports Culture, Fashion, Product Technology, and Branding. I also extend myself as brand energy for DC with the EKIN’s and Reps.

Thus far, my experience here has been eye opening and enlightening. The team here is just like the company itself, continuously growing. One of the best things about the brand is that we hire and develop talent from within. It can be extremely difficult to get on board with the swoosh, but if you can get in the opportunities are vast. I will continue to use this position to hone my skills. Things like leadership, planning, people development, management, product knowledge, and financial breakdowns are areas that I focus on weekly. My chapter is not finished so stay tuned. The future is bright...
